AI bias frames - another thing to worry about

These new AI tools require newer literacy skills every day

Watch this video. It’s three minutes long and, if you (or your kids) are using AI tools to do research, it’s critically important. There’s a new blind spot you aren’t even aware of.

I don’t have much to add except to say that educators have an awful lot on their plates these days and there’s no sign of it letting up anytime soon. Students of mine are familiar with one of my major themes: the story of technology is the story of us asking “Can we do this?” before asking “Should we do this?” It’s an old story (just ask Prometheus) and it’s one of those lessons we just never learn.

I’m not suggesting for a moment that we shouldn’t use every new tool at our disposal. Quite the opposite, in fact. I just try to keep reminding myself how little we know about the implications of new tools and capabilities and how careful we have to be.
